EP 01: Chris Elmore is Afraid of Missed Opportunities

by | May 15, 2019 | Episodes

In the year 2000, Chris Elmore started AvidXchange — a leading FinTech provider of accounts payable and payment automation now valued over $1 billion. In March 2019, CB Insights listed it as a “Global Unicorn” for the 3rd Year In A Row — making it one of only twenty four U.S. fin-tech companies to make the list. He is also a professor of entrepreneurship and innovation at UNC Charlotte and Queens University of Charlotte. And, he has a great beard.

Discussion topics & key ideas:

  • why he loves to fail (seriously – he loves it.)
  • how “failure is an event, not a person”
  • reading at a 4th grade level in college
  • meeting Richard Branson
  • how he thinks about success
  • obsessive goal setting
  • the relationship between ego & failure
  • what keeps him up at night
  • how to be “unburdened” by failure
